NPC Standing Committee checks Meteorology Law enforcement

On August 30, the Standing Committee of National People's Congress (NPC) launched inspections on how the country's Meteorology Law is enforced.


Three inspection teams, organized by the Standing Committee of NPC, were sent to five provincial regions including Heilongjiang, Anhui, Fujian, Hunan and Jiangsu in September, according to a meeting of the inspection work group.


Ji Bingxuan, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, said the inspections are aimed at enhancing capabilities to prevent and cope with meteorological disasters, developing and protecting climate resources and meteorological facilities, and helping build disaster prevention, mitigation and service systems in accordance with the law.


At the meeting, Zheng Guoguang, Administrator of CMA made a report on the promotion and implementation of Meteorology Law. Over the past ten years, meteorological departments at all levels strengthened training for laws and regulations, improved the supporting rules and regulations, and enhance supervision and inspection on the implementation of meteorological laws and regulations.


He pointed out meteorological departments at all level would fully cooperate with NPC’s inspection teams, continuously improve administrative capacity, and promote meteorological service development in accordance with the law. (Sep. 6)

On September 4, the delegation led by Zhang Baowen, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee checked meteorological service in Shaoyang Meteorological Office.

 


On September 5, the delegation led by Zhang Baowen, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee checked Loudi weather radar station, and reviewed the process of making short-term nowcasting .

 


On September 5, Ji Bingxuan, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee checked the next-generation meteorological communication network and meteorological information display system in Fujian Meteorological Information Center.
