Regulations on Meteorological Standardization promulgated

Recently, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China jointly promulgated the Regulations on Meteorological Standardization.

The regulations point out meteorological standardization is an important part of national standardization system and national meteorological service. Quality and technology supervision departments and meteorological departments at all levels should strengthen support of meteorological standardization. Meteorological departments and individuals could actively participate in the standards revision and promotion based on the requirements of meteorological standardization plans and system.

Meanwhile, the regulations point out the development plans of meteorological standardization should be included into the development plans of meteorology, and meteorological standardization work should be included into annual target management and meteorological operation technology assessment. We should study corresponding international standards and foreign advanced standards, combine with the needs and conditions of China meteorological service, and actively participate in international standardization work.

It is reported that meteorological standards are divided into compulsory standards and recommendatory standards. Up to now, China released 37 national standards and 230 regional standards in meteorological field, and 204 meteorological standards. The meteorological standard system has been initially formed.
