CMA and NOAA deepen cooperation to promote met. service

On December 12, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) signed the summary of the 18th Session of the PRC-USA Joint Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Atmospheric Science and Technology in Beijing.


According to the summary, the two sides will deepen cooperation on climate and monsoon, developmental research, numerical weather prediction, meteorological modernization, satellite meteorology, and training, and will establish working arrangement mechanism and consultation mechanism.


During the session, the two sides introduced meteorological service development both in China and in USA. Delegation of NOAA visited CMA major operation and research institutions in Beijing, and would visit Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.


Meanwhile, the two sides reviewed the achievements since signing the summary of the 17th Session of the PRC-USA Joint Working Group on Cooperation in the Field of Atmospheric Science and Technology, and discussed and exchanged views about WMO events, the two sides' development planning, and promoting the cooperation mechanism, etc. (Dec. 13)
