CMA and CASC to enhance met satellite projects cooperation

CMA and CASC signed the cooperation agreement on meteorological satellite projects.


On November 11, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) signed the Cooperation Agreement on meteorological satellite projects. Deputy Administrator of CMA Yu Rucong and general manager of CASC Wu Yansheng represented two sides to sign it.


The aspects involve in medium and long term meteorological satellites development plans, programs establishment and approval, research of meteorological satellites and carrier rockets, early research of meteorological satellite platforms and payload will be enhanced. The Agreement confirms the cooperative principle, mechanism, models and future cooperative plans.


The long-term and beneficial cooperation between CMA and CASC has last for about 40 years. As of now, China has launched 13 meteorological satellites. CASC is developing FY-2 08 and 09, FY-3 04 and FY-3 satellite. World Meteorological Administration has already put Chinese FY meteorological satellites into global business application satellites and made them play important role in global integrated observation. 


Fengyun meteorological satellites are applied widely in forecast, climate prediction, disasters and environmental monitoring, resources development, information transform, scientific research and other aspects. (Nov.13)
