Project on tropical cyclone remote sensing technology passed certification

On Nov.6,the public welfare project on tropical cyclone remote sensing monitoring and analysis technology which undertook by National Satellite Meteorological Center has passed the certification. Experts from Department of Science & Technology and Climate Change of CMA, Chinese Academy of Meteorological Science, Guangdong meteorological observatory and other units attended the meeting.


This project was developed by National Satellite Meteorological Center associated with Shanghai typhoon research institution, University of Science and Technology of China, and other Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian and Hainan research institutions.


Experts considers that the project research and develop related algorithm of FY-3 microwave data to realize the information transfer from polar-orbit satellites to geostationary satellites, build location and intensity estimation system for tropical cyclone and complete the remote sensing application platform. The achievements have been applied in monitoring and forecasting typhoons. (Nov.15)
