Dr. Xu Xiaofeng

Xu Xiaofeng, ethnic Han, native of Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, born in 1957. Graduated from Nanjing Institute of Meteorology (now renamed as Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology), is a holder of Ph.D. of Science, a senior research fellow, and an Advisor of graduate students.

 

January 1982-January 1994: Worked as a forecaster at the Short-range Weather Forecasting Office, Central Meteorological Observatory, CMA.  (In this period: March 1985-October 1985: Worked as a forecaster in Meteorological Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region; January 1992-January 1994: Studying in NOAA, United States; );

 

April 1994-December 1998: Deputy Director-General of  Department of Operational Development and Weather Forecasting, CMA; 

 

December 1998-August 1999: Deputy Director-General of Department of Forecasting Services and Disaster Mitigation, CMA; 

 

August 1999-January 2000: Deputy Director-General of Department of Observation and Telecommunication, CMA; 

 

January 2000-October 2001: Director-General of Department of Observation and Telecommunication, CMA;

 

October 2001-July 2007: Deputy Administrator and a member of the CPC Leading Group, CMA;

 

July 2007-Now: Deputy Administrator and vice-Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of CMA;

 

Presently, Dr. Xu holds concurrent posts of a member of The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, a member of Joint Conference at the Ministry-level for National Environment Construction, a member of Coordinating Group for Eco-environment Protection of Three Gorges Project, under the State Council Three Gorges Project Construction Committee, a member of National Nuclear Emergency Coordinating Committee, a member of the National Disaster Mitigation Committee, a member of coordinating group of China Desertification Prevention, a member of Joint Conference at the Ministry-level for National Environment Protection, vice-chairmen of Chinese Committee of WCRP, the President of CMA Training Center, etc.


Responsibilities: 

 

Assisting Administrator and the Secretary in managing administrative affairs, emergency management, talents management, publicity and retired veteran cadres management. Meanwhile, in charge of contacting Training Center, CMA News, CMA Press, every meteorological bureaus of East China. In addition, assisting to manage the special task of strategic studies and planning.
