As one of the pilot provinces of smart grid prediction, from March, 2015 to April, 2017, Tianjin Meteorological Service has finished the development and design of all forecasting products generation based on grid point.
Currently, smart grid forecast operation has designed over 10 thousand refined grids for Tianjin. Municipal meteorological station can generate 1-kilometer grid forecast. Its forecasting products have become more refined. Spatial and temporal resolution within 3 days can reach 1 kilometer and 1 hour. Spatial and temporal resolution from 4 days to 10 days can reach 3 hours and 5 kilometers. In the meanwhile, forecasting elements become more diversified, providing all manner of quantitative predictions of weather phenomena and 13 meteorological elements such as precipitation, temperature, cloud volume, and visibility.
Smart grid forecast not only makes prediction services more refined, but also provides technical support for large scale activities and competitions. Municipal meteorological station has established integrated meteorological warning platform, which lays a solid groundwork for meteorological services for 13th National Sports Meeting. On the strength of grid forecasting products, athletes can be informed about weather conditions in different venues.
Smart gird forecast products including hourly forecasts of wind, gust, relative humidity, cloud, etc.
Targeted at frequent severe convective weather in summer, municipal meteorological service integrated severe convective weather identification technology into the platform and realized dynamic demonstration of coverage and development trends of severe convective weather, providing reference for prediction in advance and warning. It has given full play to advantages of error correction technology and smart grid platform automatic analysis, generating more accurate precipitation forecast. Furthermore, Tianjin also set up grid point operational testing platform, further ensuring the accuracy of prediction.
Oriented towards grid point forecasting operational features, Tianjin municipal meteorological service has formed integrated operational procedures constituting chief prediction post, refined prediction post, monitoring and warning post, technical support post, and river prediction basin.
