Dr. Yu Xinwen, Deputy Administrator of CMA


Born in Wendeng, Shandong Province in October 1962, Dr. Yu Xinwen, is a member of Communist Party of China (CPC) of China Meteorological Administration (CMA), a Doctor of Science, and a Senior Engineer. From 1980 to 1988, Dr. Yu Xinwen obtained his Bachelor and Master Degree in Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST), and in 2009 he achieved his Doctors Degree of Meteorology in NUIST. 

Dr. Yu has served as forecaster, Director of Planning and Finance Division, and Deputy Director-General of Uygur Autonomous Regional Meteorological Bureau from 1984 to 2001. He had been a visiting scholar to Canada Centre for Remote Sensing from December 1998 to January 1999.  

From March 2001 to November 2007, Dr. Yu served as Deputy Director-General and Director-General of Department of Planning and Finance of CMA. Dr. Yu began to serve as Director-General of the General Office and Emergency Management Office of CMA in November 2007.   

From November 2010, Dr. Yu has become a member of Party Leading Group of CMA. He has been promoted to be Deputy Administrator of CMA as well as Director-General of CMA Development and Research Centre from January 2011.



Assisting the Administrator in managing integrated observations, policy and regulations, retired veteran cadres and logistics. He is currently in charge of Department of Integrated Observations, Department of Policy and Regulations and Office of Retired Cadres, and in charge of contacting National Satellite Meteorological Center, Meteorological Observation Center, Administration Service Center, Huayun Group, Development and Research Center, and meteorological services in North China.
