The third international training course on Global Framework for Climate Services opened in Beijing


On April 17, 2017, the third International Training Course on Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) is opened in Beijing.

This is the third time in a row that China Meteorological Administration Training Centre has held this training course. The previous courses have trained 74 participants, among which 19 are from China and 55 are from countries around the world. The international trainees mainly come from 26 countries and regions in Asia and Africa. This training course has been well recognized by WMO Training Office and GFCS Office.

This training course has recruited 20 trainees who mainly engage in climate operational management. Most of them are meteorologists in hydrology, agriculture, and climate services. Among them, some trainees come from 8 countries along “One Belt, One Road”, namely, Myanmar, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Ukraine, Palestine and Iraq.

The training encompasses introduction to GFCS, disaster risk reduction, energy, health and water resource and its components, risk management on agriculture and water resource, and so on. The training course will take an integrated approach of lecture, discussion, study, and immersive teaching to deepen their understanding of GFCS and concept of climate monitoring, forecasting, and applied services.
