WMC-Beijing conducts technical exchanges with Department of Meteorology, Sri Lanka

On July 8, World Meteorological Centre-Beijing Operational Office organized technical exchange online meeting with Department of Meteorology, Sri Lanka. This meeting has invited meteorological experts from WMC-BJ, and chief forecasters from Department of Meteorology, Sri Lanka.

In the meeting, meteorological experts from WMC-BJ made four reports, touching on topics like global weather analysis and forecasting based on Micaps4.0, analysis of flooding events incurred by rainstorm on June 3 and 4 of 2021 in Sri Lanka, iGWAP and customized channel for Sri Lanka, satellite observation of ocean parameters near Sri Lanka, as well as satellite monitoring of water body and flooding.

After the reports, forecasters from Sri Lanka proposed concrete demands on rainstorm prediction, Micaps system, products of WMC-BJ, Fengyun satellite products, and CMACast. Both sides anticipated more online exchanges and sustained cooperation. (July. 15)
