CMA and UK Met Office enhance cooperation in climate services and other fileds

Bilateral meeting between CMA and UK Met Office was held.

 

On 3th February, the bilateral meeting between China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and UK Met Office was held in Beijing. CMA Deputy Administration Jiao Meiyan and Chief Executive of Met Office Rob Varley attended the meeting.

 

In the meeting, two sides reached a consensus on cooperation in issues of climate services, numerical weather prediction, satellite observation and application, education and training and other fileds.

 

Jiao Meiyan made the speech.

 

Jiao expresses CMA will continue to provide supports for development and implement of cooperative plans. She hopes two sides could enhance further cooperation in the aspects of climate and service, numerical forecast, satellite data assimilation and space weather, in order to enhance capabilities of two sides.

 

Rob Varley expressed views of UK Met Office.

 

Rob Varley said two sides should enhance meteorological scientific and technological cooperation to improve capacities of services in disasters prevention and mitigation.

 

After meeting, Rob Varley and Met Office delegates visited National Meteorological Center, National Climate Center, National Satellite Meteorological Center and other institutions under CMA. (Feb.4)
