At 8:30 a.m. this morning, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) activated a level three emergency response to Typhoon Nesat. It is required that the relevant meteorological sectors attached to CMA enter the emergency position immediately and put corresponding meteorological services in place. The potential affected areas such as Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang are expected to sustain or adjust the emergency state according to local realities.
The National Meteorological Center issued yellow warning of typhoon at 6:00 a.m. on July 28.
At 5:00 a.m. on July 28, Nesat, this year’s ninth typhoon (severe tropical storm), centered northwest Pacific Ocean (20.0N, 125.8E), about 570 kilometers away from southeastern Taidong county of Taiwan province. The maximum sustained wind near the typhoon center hit scale 11 (30m/s).
Typhoon Nesat is expected to move northwestward at a speed of 15~20 kilometers per hour with a gradually strengthening force. At its utmost force it can hit typhoon or severe typhoon level (scale 12~14, 35-40m/s). After that it will get close to southeastern Taiwan coast and make landfall on southern Taiwan coast on July 29 (typhoon level, scale 12~13, 35-40m/s). On July 30 Nesat will make landfall on central and southern Fujian (severe tropical storm or typhoon level, scale 10~12, 25-33 m/s). Then it is forecasted to move northward with a dwindling strength.

Gale forecast: From July 28 to 29, in most of the South China Sea, Taiwan Strait, eastern Taiwan coast, Bashi Channel, and central Fujian coast, scale 6~7 gale and scale 8~9 gust is forecasted. Areas on the way of typhoon center are expected to be hit by scale 10~12 gale or scale 13~14 gust.

Precipitation forecast: From July 28 to 29, parts of eastern Taiwan will be exposed to heavy rain or rainstorm. (July 28)
