National Meteorological Center released orange warning of snow storm at 6:00 p.m. on January 3. For this reason, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) activated a level three emergency response to address the large-scale snowy weather process. It is required that the relevant meteorological sectors attached to CMA enter the emergency position immediately and put corresponding meteorological services in place. The potential affected areas such as Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shaanxi, and Shanxi are expected to sustain or adjust the corresponding emergency state according to local realities.

It is predicted that from 8:00 a.m. on January 4 to 8:00 a.m. on January 5, central-southern Henan, most portions of Anhui and Jiangsu, central-eastern Hubei, and northwestern Hunan will be exposed to heavy snow to blizzard. Heavy blizzard (20-30 mm) will batter central Anhui and southwestern Jiangsu. The newly cumulative snow depth will reach 5-10 cm in these regions. Northwestern Hunan and northeastern Guizhou will be exposed to sleet. (Jan.4)
