On February 6, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) released the Bulletin of National Ecological Meteorology 2017 (hereinafter referred to as Bulletin). The bulletin shows that meteorological conditions last year are mainly favorable for plant growth, and the quality of forest ecology is above-average, and farmers have achieved a bumper harvest. Most of China has seen the ecological quality of vegetation grow better and the vegetation coverage continuously increase since 2000, and the contribution of weather condition up to 84 percent.

According to the Bulletin, 2017 has seen the sunlight, temperature and precipitation cooperate harmoniously in most of China. Near- to above-average precipitation was observed and the summer rainfall of 2017 dwarfs the years after 1998. In terms of the ecological quality of vegetation 83% area across China is above-average, increasing by 1% than 2016. At the top of that lies south China’s Fujian, followed by Guangxi province.

In the long-term perspective, China has observed an increase in average temperature and precipitation since 2000, which is favorable for ecological construction and recovery. Thanks to the elevated vegetation ecological quality and increasing vegetation coverage, the capability of carbon sequestration and oxygen release has become stronger.

From 2000 to 2017, in Sanjiangyuan (literally "Source of Three Rivers"), Miyun reservoir of Beijing, Xiongan New Area, Hulun Lake, Ejina Oasis, stony desertification of Guizhou and Guangxi, Qaidam Basin, and Zhalong Nature Reserve, the quality of ecological environment has gained improvement with vegetation recovering and water areas expanding.
