Two scientists from CMA made the list of the third batch of Ten-thousand Talents Program

Recently, the list of the third batch of National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program (namely Ten-thousand talents program) has been unveiled. Dr. Zuo Zhiyan, from Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences (CAMS), and Dr. Chen Feng from Provincial Meteorological Service of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were among the selected young talents.

Dr Zuo Zhiyan, mainly engages in studies of climate variation function, land and atmospheric interactions, and so on. Her research results have revealed the role of soil moisture in Eastern Asian climate and pinpointed the close-knit relationship of snow in European and Asian Continents and precipitation in southern China, to name a few. She was awarded Xie Yibing Meteorological Science and Technology Award for young scientists, Tu Changwang Meteorological Science and Technology Award for young talents, and was admitted into the young talent program of China Meteorological Administration (CMA).

Dr. Chen Feng, mainly majors in tree ring and climate and hydrological change studies. Under his leadership, Provincial Meteorological Service of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has scaled cutting-edge levels in this field, with an increasingly mounting global influence. He was conferred WMO Research Award for Young Scientists. What’s more, he has been awarded Xie Yibing Meteorological Science and Technology Award for young scientists and Tu Changwang Meteorological Meteorological Science and Technology Award for young talents, and selected into CMA young talents program and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region young talents in science and technology and innovation.

Ten-thousand talents program is a key national program, which was implemented from 2012. So far, 7 experts from CMA have been selected. (Mar. 13)
