CMA and EUMETSAT held the fourth technical and scientific workshop

On May 8, the fourth technical and scientific workshop between China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) was held in Beijing.

In the workshop, both sides respectively introduced their latest progress and development plans for satellite, and conducted discussions on meteorological satellite data and products sharing, data applications, and cooperation.

Before the opening of the workshop, Mr.Yu Xinwen, Deputy Administrator of CMA met with Dr.Alain Ratier, Director-General of EUMETSAT to exchange views on how to deepen cooperation, improve capacities of disasters prevention and mitigation and provide better services for countries and territories along “Belt and Road”.

Dr. Alain Ratier says CMA has begun to utilize next-generation geostationary meteorological satellite FY-4A, and EUMETSAT operates the Copernicus Sentinel-3 series of satellites, both of which provide the important opportunity for two sides to deepen strategic cooperation in the future. He hopes to further deepen the cooperation to achieve actual results.

Mr. Yu hopes to optimize construction of the cooperative mechanism and jointly contribute to create a community of shared future for mankind.

In addition, on May 9, CMA and EUMETSAT held a seminar to discuss on research and observation for greenhouse gases and atmospheric environment. (May 10)
