CMA and Kazhydromet held the 6th session of JWG to strengthen the scientific and technological cooperation

On May 17 at local time, the sixth session of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on cooperation in meteorological science and technology between China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Kazhydromet was held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Ms. Jiao Meiyan, Deputy Administrator of CMA and Mr. Marat Kynatov, Director-General of Kazhydromet signed the meeting summary report.

According to the summary, two sides forged consensus on 9 cooperative projects in 6 fields including integrated observation, information system and data exchange, satellite and radar, and so on.

In the session, they reviewed the work progress since the 5th working group meeting, and reported their respective meteorological development in recent years and plans for the future. Focusing on promoting meteorological cooperation under “Belt and Road” initiative, and deepening the pragmatic cooperation in various fields, two sides made detailed reports and exchanged views.

Before the session, Akchulakov Bolat, Vice Minister of Ministry of Energy of Republic of Kazakhstan met with CMA’s delegation. Under the witness of Borat, Ms.Jiao Meiyan delivered two sets of traffic meteorological demonstration stations, which were assisted by CMA, to Kazhydromet.

During the period of session, CMA’s delegation also visit Almaty Branch of Kazhydromet and Astana Centennial Weather Station. (May 21)
