CMA issued red warning and upgraded to level two emergency response to address typhoon Maria

The National Meteorological Center issued red warning of typhoon at 10:00 a.m. on July 10. Typhoon Maria is expected to move towards west by north at the speed of 30 kilometers per hour, skim over northern Taiwan Island on the early morning of July 11, and make landfall in the coastal regions from Fuqing, Fujian to Cangnan, Zhejiang on the morning of July 11. After landing, it will continue to move towards northwest.

At 10:30 a.m. on July 10, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) upgraded level three to level two emergency response to address Typhoon Maria. It is required that the relevant meteorological sectors attached to CMA enter the emergency position immediately and put corresponding meteorological services in place. The potential affected areas such as Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangxi are expected to sustain or adjust the corresponding emergency state according to local realities. Related departments should complete every work strictly according to the process of level two emergency response.

Affected by Maria, from July 10 to 11, the coast of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Taiwan Island will be exposed to gale heavy rain. (July 10)
