Association of Polar Early Career Scientists of China established

On August 1, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists of China (APECS China) was formally established, which held the first council meeting in Dunhuang, Northwest China's Gansu province. The meeting discussed and revised the charter, and determined the future working plan. The members of the first council are consisted of 37 young scientists from 23 institutions of China.

APECS China recruits young workers and students under 40 years old who engage in polar science and technology research at relevant institutions in the country. It will organize one academic communication meeting and council meeting at least in every year, participate in polar and cryosphere annual, invite famous scholars and experts, organize members to take part in international activities and training, etc.

Young scientists have played a big role in the international polar scientific research and formed the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS). The APECS provides a platform for exchanges and cooperation between young polar scholars around the world and offers various fund channels for young scholars. Besides China, there are 22 countries having APECS branches. (Aug.8)
