CMA launched level four emergency response to address cold wave of China

The National Meteorological Center has issued blue warning of cold wave for five days. At 10:00 a.m. on December 28, NMC upgraded the warning to yellow warning. In order to address cold wave, China Meteorological Administration activated a level four emergency response. It is required that the relevant meteorological sectors attached to CMA enter the emergency position immediately and put corresponding meteorological services in place. The potential affected areas such as Hubei, Hunan, Anhui, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong and Guangxi are expected to sustain or adjust the emergency state according to local realities.

From December 28 to 31, the temperature of eastern Northwest China, central-eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, southern parts of Huaihe will drop by 6-10℃. In some parts of Guizhou, southwestern Hubei, western and southern Hunan, eastern Tibet, Guangxi, central-western Guangdong, Chongqing and West Sichuan Plateau, the temperature will drop by 12-14℃ even exceed 14℃. The lowest temperature of 0℃line will move towards south and reach Nanling on December 30 to 31.

It’s forecasted that from December 28 to 30, southern Shaanxi, southeastern Chongqing, southern Hubei, western and northern Hunan, central-eastern Guizhou, northern Jiangxi, central-southern Anhui, southern Jiangsu, northwestern Zhejiang, eastern Tibet and southern Qinghai will experience moderate to heavy snow or sleet. Central-southern Guizhou and southwestern Hunan will see freezing rain. 

The experts suggest the public to take prevent measures from cold. The temperature will rise up slowly from January 4 of 2019.
