From July 15 to 26, the 16th International Seminar on Climate System and Climate Change (ISCS) was held in Yunnan University, Kunming, Yunnan province. This seminar is sponsored by China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and co-organized by Beijing Climate Center (BCC), Yunnan University, and CMA Training Centre.
15 international trainees from 9 countries and 162 researchers from 30 domestic institutions participated in the two-week training. Five international climatologists and experts on related fields were invited as teachers and lecturers
Since 2004, the seminar has cultivated 2410 trainees, with 207 international trainees included. ISCS was initialed from 2004, aiming at widening views of young scientists, realizing international front on climate and climate change, improving the climate research capacity, and strengthening international academic exchanges. More than 80 internationally renowned professors have come to China to give lectures to more than 2,000 participants from domestic research institutes, universities and meteorological departments. Since 2007, 207 international participants from Asia and Africa have been invited, which has further lifted this seminar’s international influence. The Seminar on Climate System and Climate Change has become a platform for exchange of knowledge, technology and personnel in the field of climate change at home and abroad.
The 17th ISCS is planned to be held in July 2020 in Changchun, China.
