CMA and NHC join hands to improve multi-hazard warning against epidemic

China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and National Health Commission (NHC) jointly improved the utilization of national emergency early warning information release system to issue information and science popularization for control of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus.

Since the outbreak of epidemic, meteorological departments at all levels are taking advantage of the early warning information release system, making full use of such as rural loudspeakers and meteorological information displays to disseminate epidemic-related messages.

Now, NHC and CMA further enhanced cooperation to improve information release linkage mechanism. The health departments at all levels can also utilize the multiple meteorological channels such as rural loudspeakers, meteorological information displays, meteorological video program, new media and others to release information. It’s beneficial to improve the coverage of epidemic-related information dissemination, achieve rapid, accurate and hierarchical release, enhance science popularization and effectively promote the information to reach the last mile.

It’s reported that the Hubei Emergency Early Warning Information Release Platform has fully integrated with the provincial epidemic prevention and control headquarters. It’s disseminating epidemic-related information through Hubei meteorological official WeChat, Microblog, website, App, TV program and other channels.

The early warning information release system is one of the important infrastructures of the national emergency response system and major support for emergency management of governments at all levels. This system is supported by governments at all levels, and operated by CMA. It has realized the four-level warning release of nation, provinces, cities and counties, establishing shared release channels with 16 departments. It possesses the multi-channels and one-click releasing capabilities, capable of disseminating information through SMS, microblog, WeChat, Internet media, APP, telephone, fax, website, rural loudspeakers, display screens, weather messengers. Especially in the rural areas, it gives full play to realize the "last mile" information dissemination. Now, the social public coverage rate of the system has reached 87.4%. (Feb.5)
