On November 9, the first virtual session of the Commission for Observation, Infrastructure and Information Systems (Infrastructure Commission, INFCOM) of World Meteorological Organization (WMO) was held. Mr. Yu Yong, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) led the Chinese delegation to attend this meeting in Beijing.
This meeting lasts 5 days. Prof. Petteri Taalas, Secretary General of WMO delivered the opening remarks. Mr. Michel Jean, President of INFCOM chaired the meeting. The meeting will discuss issues like rules of procedure, data exchange, WMO integrated global observing system, and WMO information system.
During the meeting, Yu Yong expressed his appreciation to INFCOM for its work and progresses since last year’s World Meteorological Congress, and set forth his suggestions on aspects like global basic observing network and international data exchange.
INFOCOM is one of the two technical commissions of WMO in the aftermath of the reform. (Nov. 17)
