China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has officially launched automatic observation of acid rain from January 1, 2021, to improve the quality and accuracy of acid rain observation data.
Since the early 1980s, CMA has officially listed acid rain observation as one of the meteorological stations observations, and successively deployed a network of acid rain artificial observation stations across the country. In order to further enhance the acid rain observation capability, in 2020, CMA completed the construction and blind sample testing of the automatic acid rain observation system at 151 meteorological stations across the country.
In 2021, 151 meteorological stations in China will carry out a one-year parallel observation between automatic and manual observation to fully grasp the data deviation, and ensure the continuity of historical observation data after switching.
Meanwhile, CMA has also issued relevant operational specifications for the automatic observation of acid rain to clarify the tasks and the use management requirements of observation sites, laboratories and equipment. (Dec.31)
