Recently, national multi-model integrated air quality forecasting guidance product of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has entered preliminary operational access review, and will kick off preliminary operational review immediately, which will better further boost the capacity to support environmental operational services.
The product is spearheaded by Department of Emergency Response, Disaster Mitigation and Public Services, and developed by National Meteorological Centre (NMC). Based on the current national-level air quality numerical weather prediction (NWP) model (CUACE) and regional air quality NWP model, the product is adopts new technologies like artificial neural network integration. On the foundation of real-time forecasting results assessment, it has set up the optimum integration at the interval of each site and forecasting time series. Compared with the previous national air quality forecasting guidance product based on the solitary CUACE model, the time efficiency of the product is lengthened from 3 days to 7 days; and the time resolution refined from 3 hours and 6 hours to one hour. After the system verification, the five-day average forecasting accuracy of the product in 2019 surpassed that of 3-day average forecasting accuracy of the previous product from 2015 to 2018.(Jan. 12)
