On July 20, China Meteorological Administration (CMA) released the annual Greenhouse Gas Bulletin of China in 2019.
According to the observation of Waliguan Baseline Observatory, the concentration of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide registered 411.4±0.2 ppm, 1931±0.3 ppb, and 332.6±0.1 ppb respectively in 2019, tantamount to the average concentration in mid-latitude regions in northern hemisphere. After 2016, the growth of CO2 concentration dropped.
Under the framework of GAW of World Meteorological Organization (WMO), CMA takes responsibility of greenhouse gas observation and relevant microcomponents in China. In 1992, greenhouse gas baseline concentration observation was carried out in China for the first time.
So far, CMA has 7 greenhouse gas baseline observatories. Among them, Waliguan Baseline Observatory is one of the 31 global baseline observatories of WMO/GAW. Its observation results can represent atmospheric greenhouse gas concentration and its change in mid-latitude landlocked regions in northern hemisphere. Currently, CMA is capable of integrated observation of greenhouse gas with myriad approaches. (July. 23)
