On July 1, Weather Radar Mosaic System V3.0 was put into operation. Its products have been applied in relevant national departments and 10 provinces (autonomous regions) like Shandong, Inner Mongolia, and Jiangsu. V3.0 is a networking mosaic operational system based on national radar base data and is developed by National Observation Centre of China Meteorological Administration (CMA).

This initiative aims to give full play to the role of radar in severe weather monitoring, forecasting, and services.

V3.0 has markedly elevated quality control and enriched product category, and realized the unification of weather radar networking mosaic. The product update frequency has been shortened from 10 minutes to 6 minutes and can provide mosaic experimental product at 3 minutes interval. Currently, this system has been incorporated into the meteorological big data cloud platform “Tianqing” and relevant data interface has been developed. (July. 5)
