On September 29, Fengyun-3E meteorological satellite (hereafter referred to as FY-3E satellite） released atmospheric three-dimensional products. This is the first batch of high accuracy global sea surface wind field distribution of diverse time spans, global atmospheric temperature and humidity distribution products at varied altitudes.The satellite can clearly detect the condition of 37 layers of the atmosphere from the ground to the altitude of 60 kilometers.
These images are the integrated products of remote sensing instruments of wind radar, microwave temperature sounder-III, microwave humidity sounder-II and GNSS radio occultation sounder-II onboard the satellite. They have revealed the pattern of the complete dynamics and thermodynamics evolution of the global atmospheric layer. These images have provided the most direct and accurate actual measurement of initial field data for analyzing and predicting all manner of extreme severe weather phenomena like typhoon and rainstorm which has huge impacts on human society. This is the first time that FY satellites have actively carried out detection of the wind conditions.
Currently, FY-3E satellite is in the midst of in-orbital testing. To fully give play to the role of the satellite, products have been put into application testing in advance. (Sep.30)
