Recently, meteorological departments of Ningxia have teamed up with office in charge of wetlands to engage in the climate effects assessment of urban hydrological environment of ecological sphere targeted at the mountain areas of lakes and wetlands and increasingly improving ecological environmental conditions. They have studied the regulatory role of main water bodies in the neighbouring areas of Yinchuan and assessed the climate effects produced by lakes and wetlands.

The research shows that the area of water bodies and their depth are dominant factors affecting small climate effects.

Right now, drought trends in urban areas still persist. And action should be taken to ameliorate urban ecological environmental construction, enlarge the coverage area of green spaces, lakes and wetlands, and decelerate global warming. (Jan. 28)
