Dr. YU Rucong, Deputy Administrator.

    Dr. YU Rucong, ethnicity of Han, was born in Quanjiao County, Anhui Province in March 1962. He is a personage without a party affiliation. Dr. YU began his career in September 1979. He is a holder of Master degree in meteorology and PhD degree of Science. He is also a senior research fellow.
    1979-1983: studying at the Department of Dynamic Meteorology, Institute of Meteorology of the PLA Air Force;
    1983-1992: instructor at Department of Basic Education of the above institute (from 1984 to 1992, he studied at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and he received his Master degree and later PhD of science);
    1992-1998: assistant research fellow and later associate research fellow of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (from July 1995 to September 1998, visiting scholar of the New York State University, Stony Brook);
    1998-2002: Deputy Director of the National Key Laboratory on Atmospheric Physics and Geo-hydrodynamics, Chinese Academy of Science (from August to November 2000 and from May to August 2001, visiting scholar of the New York State University, Stony Brook).
    August 2002-Now: Vice Director of the National Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Physics and Geo-hydrodynamics, CAS and Director of the Research Institute of Heavy Rain, CMA;
    December 2004-Now: Deputy Administrator of CMA
Responsibilities:
    Assisting the Administrator in managing the science & technology development, partially involving in CMA’s human resources development and weather forecast services. Mainly in charge of the meteorological science & technology innovation system, R&D in numerical modeling and experiments, cooperation with universities, data quality and applications, etc.
