CMA's research setup has recently been restructured, which is composed of two levels, national and provincial, in response to the needs of economic and meteorological development. This new scientists and technologists management system features openness, freedom of transfer, competition and teamwork. Research organizations under CMA include the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, the Beijing Urban Meteorological Institute, the Shanghai Typhoon Institute, the Wuhan Torrential Rain Institute, the Guangzhou Tropical & Marine Meteorological Institute, the Chengdu Plateau Meteorological Institute, the Shenyang Atmospheric Environmental Institute, the Lanzhou Drought Meteorological Institute and the Urumchi Desert Meteorological Institute. Moreover, other meteorological institutes at provincial level, which are focused on the applied R & D in the light of local meteorological development needs and realistic conditions, boast their respective strengths in a given discipline or study. |
