Jiao Meiyan, born in 1962, holder of Master Degree, Senior Engineer, Advisor for MA Candidates 1996-2000, Deputy Director of Anhui Provincial Meteorological Bureau 2004-2007, Director of National Meteorological Center; Director of Central Meteorological Office November, 2007, Director-General of Forecasting Services and Disaster Mitigation; Director of Meteorological Decision-making Service Center of CMA June, 2008, Deputy Administrator of CMA Ms. Jiao Meiyan has working for the planning and design, scientific research and development of meteorological service system for many years. She has led the design and construction of provincial and national modern meteorological service systems. Her main research direction is the application research on rainstorm and mesoscale & microweather including the monitoring and analysis of mesoscale severe weather, mechanism research on rainstorm weather change and development, research on monitoring and warning of sand-dust storm and research on application technology of numerical prediction. She has led more than 10 national service research projects, etc, and has published over 30 theses on national core periodicals Representing China, Ms. Jiao has attended the discussions of international affairs and academic exchange organized by WMO for many times. She has been the member of the international expert panel researching on the project of Asian Sand-dust Storm, Leader of Asian aviation meteorological coordination working group of WMO and Vice Chairman of Chinese Committee in THORPEX Scientific Project. Ms. Jiao is also Managing Director of the Chinese Meteorological Society, Chairman of Commission for Synoptic Meteorology and Advisor for MA Candidates of Nanjing University of Information Service & Technology. |
