Institute of Atmospheric Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies of University of Oklahoma jointly held the first Sino-US Mesoscale Meteorology and Data Assimilation Proseminar on February 26 in US.
About 140 experts in mesoscale meteorology attended the proseminar, include 40 experts from CMA National Satellite Meteorological Center, Shandong Provincial Meteorological Observatory, Chongqing Municipal Meteorological Observatory and Lanzhou University etc..
The proseminar includes six topics: mesoscale observation, mesoscale forecast, data assimilation, mesoscale modeling, mesoscale theory and the relation between mesoscale and macroscale.
Both sides planed to hold the second proseminar in China in 2010.
Institute of Atmospheric Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies of University of Oklahoma officially signed an agreement of cooperation in August 2007, deciding to cooperate in Study of Significant Severe Weather and Climate Events that both sides concern.
