From June 13 to 15 two experts from the Unites Nations World Food Program (WFP) Alsdair.Cohen and Wang Weijing and doctor Liu Buchun from the Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences visited Anhui Institute of Meteorological Science and Research (AHIMSR) and exchanged views with the staff on cooperation of agriculture weather index insurance.   

    The WFP experts introduced the current development of agriculture weather index insurance in foreign countries and its necessity in China. They also explained the related weather index concepts and detailed implements content. The researcher Ma Xiaoqun of AHIMSR made a detailed introduction on fruits of the research on weather index.

    In order to investigate the feasibility of agriculture weather index insurance in Anhui, Mr. Alsdair.Cohen and other experts trained AHIMSR staff and students from Anhui Agricultural University on investigating questionnaire of demand evaluation. In morning June 15 they went to some local villages to carry out trial investigation. (June 17)
