China Meteorological Administration issued an emergency class I Typhoon alert

    On September 18 at 8:00 a.m. China Meteorological Administration Administrator Zheng Guoguang announced the urgent beginning of class I typhoon mitigation commands.  


    At 7:00 a.m. this morning this year’s 13th super typhoon WIPHAentered the southern sector of the East Sea, Its center is located at 24.4 degrees north latitude, 123.7 degrees east longitude approximately 490 km. southeast of Wenling in Zhejiang Province. Wind speeds around the eye are class 16 (55m/sec).

    The super typhoon’s center is headed northwest at 20 km/hr. gradually moving closer to Zhejiang’s coastline. It could possibly make landfall from the later half of today until tomorrow morning anywhere from Zhejiang bay to the Xiang mountain coast. It is also possible that it will skim off Zhejiang’s north central section and go into the northern sea.    (Sept.18)
