On December 18, Beijing meteorological service web site for transport during the Spring Festival is checked and accepted.

    Check and acceptance group composed of experts from the concerned departments such as Beijing Railway Bureau, Beijing Public Transport Holdings Ltd, Beijing Public Security bureau and Beijing Meteorological Bureau etc. checked the web site.

    The experts unanimously agreed that the web site, as Beijing's first specialized web site providing meteorological service for transport during the Spring Festival, has creative idea, as well as succinct and practical content, able to basically meet the demands of public for meteorological and traffic service at the period of transport during the Spring Festival.   

    Guohu, director of Beijing Meteorological Observatory, said that before and after Spring Festival are a high frequency period of severe weather such as snow, fog, haze, gale, and cold wave in northern China and a busy period of transport in Beijing and the surrounding areas. So Beijing Meteorological Bureau and Beijing Municipal Transportation Administration Bureau jointly developed Beijing meteorological service web site for transport during the Spring Festival on 2006 and perfected on 2007.

    The web site provide real-time meteorological satellite cloud pictures, weather forecast of Beijing and the surrounding areas and other forecast involve in transport during the Spring Festival. All of this can provide scientific reference for traffic management departments and public.  (Yang Jinhui   Dec.20)
