On May 7 Qingdao convened the marine cleaning and the meteorological and hydrological coordination work conference. The deputy mayor of Qingdao Zhang Yuanfu attened the meeting and stressed that the concerned departments should attach great importance and define the responsibility to do best of the service for the Olympic sailboat racing. The director Wang Xiaoyun and vice director Yang Yuqiang of Qingdao Meteorological Bureau attended the conference.     
    

   On the conference Qingdao Meteorological Bureau reported the work of organization and management, team construction, technology preparation, weather modification, social management, major risks,  emergency response and near future plan. Zhang Yuanfu pointed out that the success of the international sailboat racing in 2006 and 2007 proved that Qingdao had the competence to hold the Olympic sailboat racing. He also affirmed the meteorological work and encouraged to continue to do best for the Olympic service.   (May 8)
