Some areas in northwest Yunnan have had 17 to 21mm moderate rain and Dujiangyan has had 26mm heavy rain. The precipitation process in central south of Sichuan lasted from the night of May 12 to the Morning of May 13, which is not beneficial for disaster resistance and relief in the earthquake disaster regions.

It is forecasted that in the following week, there will be 3 thunderstorm or shower processes in Sichuan, Chongqing, and south Shaanxi. From May 13 to 14, the disaster regions will generally have light to moderate rain, but some local places will have heavy-hard rain and even severe convective weather. On May 17 there will be light shower. From May 19 to 20, the disaster regions will suffer another precipitation process.

Experts from Central Meteorological Observatory remind that because of the earthquake, the structures of soil and rocks become loose. Once the precipitation weather comes, geological disasters such as debris flow, landslide, etc will probably occur. Therefore, the relevant sectors and personnel should pay attention to disaster prevention as well as disaster resistance and relief.  Central Meteorological Observatory will continue closely monitor the weather change, and offer timely weather forecast.
