CMA Linked Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau to Deploy Disaster Resistance and Relief

    At 13 o’clock of May 13, Zheng Guoguang, Administrator of CMA and Deputy Administrators Yu Rucong, Zhang Wenjian, Shen Xiaonong linked Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau and the working group led by Wang Shourong, Deputy Administrator of CMA, with video telephone in the Emergency Management Office of CMA. They sent their concern and care to Sichuan meteorological departments and investigate the real condition in the spot to further deploy the disaster resistance and relief.

    Zheng praised that the meteorological departments of Sichuan reacted very rapidly in the disaster resistance and relief. They took effective measures which laid a good foundation for the following work.

    Zheng required that Sichuan meteorological departments should pay high attention on disaster resistance and relief and continue to do the meteorological service, try the best to link the weather stations in the disaster regions to check out the conditions of each employee, send the concerns of CMA to them, and offer them all the possible support and help. Sichuan meteorological departments should offer comprehensive and good meteorological service to Sichuan Provincial Government as well as the disaster resistance and relief headquarters of State Council. The meteorological personnel should make good preparations for the possible secondary disasters.


    It is reported that Wang Shourong arrived at Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau at 11 o’clock of May 13, and he required that the local meteorological personnel should carefully do the work of monitoring and forecast. They should resume meteorological observation rapidly and try their bests to check out the conditions of the stations which have been still out of connection. Wang also expressed that the key point was to ensure the personnel’s safety.


    In addition, after distributing 5 million Yuan for the rescue work in the disaster region of Sichuan, CMA will distribute another 7 Million Yuan for disaster resistance and relief. (May 13)
