On May 15, Center on Climate Change, CMA held its open ceremony in Beijing. Zheng Guoguang, Administrator of CMA, and Deputy Administrator Shen Xiaonong unveiled the nameplate. The establishment marks that CMA’s work of dealing with climate change has entered a new stage.

    In the ceremony, Zheng stressed that the establishment of Center on Climate Change, CMA was a kind of organization form. The key point was to do a solid job and really play its role, so as to create a new prospect of responsive work of climate change. Accomplishing responsive work of climate change was a significant task of CMA. Both Meteorological disaster prevention and reduction and responsive work of climate change were the 2 most fundamental tasks of CMA. All departments should pay high attention on them and closely cooperate with each other on the platform which was provided by the center.

    Zheng pointed out that they should actively explore an effective operating mechanism of Center on Climate Change, CMA and create a new prospect of responsive work of climate change. It should highlight its own features and accomplish its tasks.

    The establishment of Center on Climate Change, CMA will integrate the scattered research strengths and resources so as to better play the active role of CMA in China’s general task of dealing with climate change. At the same time, this center will also become a communication platform of China and abroad to meet the demands of China’s responsive work of Climate change and the international diplomatic negotiation of climate change.

    Hu Peng, Director of Department of Human Resource of CMA, read its main tasks and mechanism scheme in the ceremony. Leaders and the relevant personnel of other departments of CMA also attended this ceremony. (May 15)
