At 21 o’clock of May 15, Administrator of China Meteorological Administration Zheng Guoguang, Deputy Administrators Xu Xiaofeng and Shen Xiaonong telephoned to Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau and Tianshui Meteorological Office of Gansu to investigate the situations of disaster regions, and deploy the work of earthquake relief and meteorological service. Zheng required that they should continue working hard for the present meteorological service of earthquake relief and take super-conventional measures for meteorological support. Deputy Administrator of CMA Wang Shourong attended this teleconference in Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau.

    Zheng required that they should strengthen the forecast of secondary disaster, monitoring of earthquake and meteorological service; carefully plan earthquake relief; take super-conventional measures to transmit meteorological information to the disaster regions.

    Zheng emphasized that people’s safety in the disaster regions should be taken in the 1st place. Meteorological service should be ensured on the basis of people’s safety.

    Zheng pointed out that they should closely focus on the weather of disaster regions; monitor it for 24 hours per day; give super-conventional service and prepare for a long-term campaign. He expressed that by the strong support of CMA, they would certainly win this tough fight.

    Xu Xiaofeng, Wang Shourong and Shen Xiaonong also gave their requirements of earthquake relief in the disaster regions. (May 16)
