FengYun Satellite Has Started Intensive Observation in Advance for Earthquake Relief

    At 16 o’clock of May 15, National Satellite Meteorological Center started intensive observational mode of FengYun-2 Meteorological Satellite in advance to support the earthquake relief meteorological service of meteorological observatories in disaster regions.

    Influenced by the earthquake, the meteorological observatories in quake-hit areas have been seriously destroyed. So the observatory work has been hindered. It is reported that the intensive observation is only started in flood season. Every 15 minutes, a satellite cloud picture will be transmitted to local places including disaster regions. It will offer more accurate and detailed observation data to meteorological departments in disaster regions, which will be beneficial for meteorological service in disaster regions. (May 16)
