From 16 o’clock of July 1, rainstorm and lightning began to hit Xiangfan City of Hubei Province. It is reported that from 16 to 17 o’clock of July 1, the precipitation of the urban area of Xiangfan has been 50.8mm. This rainfall has been the heaviest one since this flood season.

    The rainstorm caused waterlogging in many places of Xiangfan. In some places, the depth of waterlogging rose to 50 t0 60cm, which seriously affected the travel of the local people.

    At 15 o’clock of July 1, Xiangfan Weather Station sent warning signal to the local leaders by short message and especially reminded that the sudden rainstorm may probably cause flood, waterlogging and geological disasters like mountain torrent. So the relevant departments and people should take necessary measures and make good preparations. (July 2)
