Severe tropical storm Vicente heading for Guangdong

The Central Meteorological Office issued a yellow category warning for typhoon at 6:00 a.m. today: 


At 5:00 a.m. today, the 8th severe tropical storm Vicente was located at 385 km southeast of Yangjiang, Guangdong province (19.6N, 115.1E) with maximum wind force up to scale 10.
It is forecasted to move northwest at speed of 10 km per hour approaching western coast of Guangdong with gaining intensity. It is likely to land in the coastal areas from Taishan to Xuwen in Guangdong from tonight to tomorrow morning.


Affected by the storm and southwest monsoon, in the next 24 hours from 8:00 a.m. today, there will be strong wind with scale 7-8 and gust of scale 9 affecting coast of Guangdong, Pearl River Mouth, Hainan coast, and Qiongzhou Straits.


Heavy rain or rainstorm will affect most parts of Guangdong, most parts of Guangxi, Hainan, eastern Fujian, southern Yunnan, southern Jiangxi, and southern Hunan. Among these areas, there will be severe rainstorm with rainfall 100-200mm affecting the isolated areas in southern coast of Guangdong, and northeastern Hainan. Severe convection is likely to happen in these areas.

Gale forecast in the next 24 hours, with light blue for wind force of scale 7-8, navy blue for scale 9-10, and yellow for scale over 11.


Rainfall forecast in the next 24 hours from 8:00 a.m. today. Light blue shows heavy rain (26.0-49.9mm), navy blue for rainstorm (50.0-99.9mm) and purple for severe rainstorm (100.0-250.0mm).
