Climate services are provided at four levels: regional, national, provincial, and prefectural, separately by the Beijing Climate Centre, National Climate Centre, 31 provincial climate centres and 317 prefectural meteorological offices.
Beijing Climate Centre provides climate services to regional users in Asia, including climate prediction, extreme climate events monitoring and climate assessment.
The mission of the National Climate Centre is to monitor and diagnose global atmospheric and oceanic conditions, as well as significant climate events, especially in East Asia; issue global climate predictions and impact assessments at monthly, seasonal and inter-annual time scales, particularly in East Asia; provide climate services to different users; and do research on climate and climate change issues.
Provincial Climate Centres are engaged in climate operation, research and services and prefectural meteorological offices provide climate services to local users.
