The weather will be changeable in the early part of the May Day holiday and become more stable in the later period.
In northern China, temperature fluctuations deserve close attention. At the start of the holiday, temperatures will drop sharply first in northwest China, with the maximum temperature in many areas falling from nearly 30°C to below 20°C. Temperatures in northeast and north China will also drop noticeably starting on May 2. In the latter half of the holiday, temperatures in the north will rebound markedly, exceeding 25°C in many places again. During the holiday, the temperature swing in most northern areas will be over 10°C.

Southern China is mainly affected by rainfall. Especially from the afternoon of the 2nd to the daytime of the 3rd, there will be obvious rainfall in the south of the Yangtze River and South China, with heavy rain locally. It is advisable to avoid heavy rain periods for outdoor plans.

Tips for Holiday Travel
The overall weather pattern features fine weather in the north and rainfall in the south, bringing distinct travel experiences. Northern China is the preferred tourist destination. Most areas from northeast, north and northwest China to the Jianghuai region will enjoy sunny and rainless days with good visibility and pleasant scenery. The climate comfort level is mostly favorable, ideal for outdoor outings, camping, and trips to coastal and mountainous areas.
Southern China will see frequent rainfall during the holiday. Heavy downpours will hit the southern part of the Yangtze River and most of South China. In addition, strong winds will prevail over the East China Sea during the holiday; please pay attention to safety for marine and coastal travel activities.
Outdoor & Dressing Tips
·For northern China: cool mornings and evenings with warm afternoons bring a large diurnal temperature difference. Layered dressing is recommended for easy adjustment. Strong ultraviolet radiation at noon also requires proper sun protection.
·For southern China: keep rain gear handy at all times, and take precautions against rain and thunderstorms.
