On June 4, the Inaugural Session of the Third Pole Climate Forum and Meeting of the Third Pole RCC-Network Task Team was opened in Lijiang, Yunnan, China. Over 70 participants from World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and 18 countries and regions like China, India attended this event.
This event mainly discussed the demand of climate and cryosphere products and services for the Third Pole, assessed the current monitoring condition of the Asian alpine climate system, formed a consistent climate monitoring conclusion and climate prediction opinion in the region, and contributed to improving the supply capacity of high mountain climate and cryosphere public service products.
During this event, meteorological departments of China, India and Pakistan, the WMO Secretariat and representatives of the organizers jointly launched the demonstration phase of the Third Pole Regional Climate Centre Network (TPRCC-Network).
In the future, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) will rely on the TPCF platform to expedite the capacity building of TPRCC and help enhance the level of regional climate and cryosphere services.
