On March 23, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) organized the activity of World Meteorological Day (WMD) 2025, and 25 trainees from the International Training Course on the Application of Nowcasting Techniques in Early Warning/Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (hereinafter referred to as the Course) took part in the launching ceremony, expressing blessings for the WMD in both Chinese and English languages.
CMA Training Centre (WMO Regional Training Centre Beijing) launched the activities of popularization of science and cultural creativity, such as depicting early warning with children's hearts and “face-to-face” chatting with international friends. Trainees of the Course exchanged views with the public, shared each other's meteorological stories, and deeply heeded the importance of “Closing the Early Warning Gap Together”.

“Everyone should have access to early warnings.” Mr. Shahzad Sultan, a senior meteorologist with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), said, "The theme of WMD 2025 is also why we came to the CMA for training, that is to learn how to better disseminate early warnings to more people.” At present, the cloud-based early warning system jointly built by CMA and PMD has been successfully applied and will continue to provide strong support for Pakistan to enhance its early warning capability.
From March 20 to April 2, 25 trainees of the Course from developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America will carry out a 13-day training on the topics of nowcasting of severe convective weather, Chinese practice of early warning, and cloud-based early warning system and so on, jointly enhance the theoretical and practical level of nowcasting of severe weather and strengthen the communication and cooperation of early warning and meteorological prevention and mitigation.
