From August 17 to 19, the 22nd Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG) Plenary Meeting and the 19th Senior Disaster Management Officials' Forum (SDMOF) convened in Dalian, Liaoning.

Representatives from China's Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM), the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), APEC member economies, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) gathered for in-depth exchanges on priority areas such as disaster early warning and early action, and technology-driven innovation in emergency management. At the Senior Officials Forum, XU Jia'ai, Vice Minister of Emergency Management; ZHANG Zuqiang, Deputy Administrator of CMA; and CHENG Lie, APEC Senior Official for China, attended and delivered remarks.

A representative from the National Meteorological Centre (NMC) of CMA shared practical experience regarding MAZU-China Intelligent Meteorological Early Warning Solution.

ZHANG Zuqiang noted that the Asia-Pacific region is frequently affected by extreme weather and climate events, and that addressing regional climate disaster risks requires multilateral collaboration. China's MAZU solution has been deployed and trialed in multiple economies, while training and exchange programs have been carried out to help strengthen regional disaster preparedness. He expressed the hope that, with MAZU serving as a bridge, China would deepen cooperation with APEC economies in multi-hazard early warning and climate adaptation, promote balanced development of regional disaster prevention capabilities, expand integrated disaster prevention application scenarios, strengthen climate risk management, and jointly safeguard the well-being and sustainable development of people across the Asia-Pacific.
