On May 24, 2025 Meteorological Science and Technology Week kicked off.
During this event, meteorological departments in all localities organize campaigns focused on technological innovation to ignite public enthusiasm for meteorological science.
Exhibitions, interactive experiences, educational tours, expert lectures, and science popularization workshops are carried out to bridge the gap between meteorological research achievements and the broader public, bringing cutting-edge advancements from laboratories into everyday lives.
On May 25, Hefeng County Meteorological Office, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei, China, in collaboration with Hefeng County Siyuan Experimental School, jointly organized a meteorology-themed research and study activity. During the event, children paid a visit to the meteorological observation field. The volunteers guided them to observe various modern meteorological technological equipment such as temperature and humidity sensors and wind indicators, and explained the working principles of the devices one by one in combination with the local climate characteristics of Hefeng. On May 24, the 2025 National Science and Technology Week of Tonggu County, Yichun, Jiangxi, China was commenced at the Tonggu Fourth Primary School. At the meteorological exhibition area, staff members from Tonggu County Meteorological Office gave the students a detailed introduction to the operation pattern of the portable mobile meteorological station, and explained the principles of measuring temperature and humidity with a louvered box, monitoring wind speed and direction with a wind cup and wind vane, and recording precipitation with a rain gauge. On May 22, professional personnel from Wuzhou Municipal Meteorological Department, Guangxi, China was invited to the Municipal Maritime Safety Administration to give a lecture on meteorological science popularization knowledge. The instructor, based on the actual work of maritime operation, delivered a detailed explanation on how to receive meteorological warning information and various guidelines for defending against extreme weather. On the morning of May 24, Ma'anshan Municipal Meteorological Department, Anhui,China, held a theme activity for the Science and Technology Week. On May 24, Yingkou Economic and Technological Development Zone Meteorological Office, Liaoning, China carried out a customized scientific practice activity called "Little Forecaster" for the students of the campus meteorological station of Lide Primary School in Bayuquan District. During the practice session, under the guidance of meteorological staff, students of the campus meteorological station learned how to harness real-time data from MICAPS and the automatic station for analysis to make a 24-hour weather forecast.
